Bio

Tomasz Milanowski
Polish painter born in 1972. He studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1993–1998). His diploma thesis was awarded the Rector’s Distinction. The expressive paintings he creates resemble organic abstraction aesthetics. Each painting is a world full of flowing, interpenetrating colours captured with oil paint on large-format canvas. His works contain multiple layers of content associations that, among others, refer to Dutch floral inspirations, the vanitas motif, the symbolism of the elements and autotelic reflection on the artistic medium.
Milanowski held over 50 individual exhibitions, over 100 collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation scholarship (2013) and took part inthe international artistic project West Farbe (2016–2020) together with creators such as Katharina Grosse, Rainer Splitt, Christophe Baudson and Simon Morris. He is a Professor in the artistic discipline of fine art and a Dean of the Faculty of Painting in the terms of 2016–2020, 2020–2024 and 2024–2028.
An outstanding persona of the Polish art market, appreciated by collectors. Milanowski is also a member of the Starak Family Foundation and an Ambassador of the Talens brand in Poland.
